This Is Where People Come To Start Healing

Minimizing the risk of workplace injury accidents

Workplace injuries occur because of a variety of reasons. Kentucky employers should take steps to minimize the risk to their employees by conducting careful assessments of the workplace environment and areas that need improvement.

A major area that employers should consider is the different physical risks that might exist for their employees. Doing so might involve brainstorming all of the different ways a worker might be injured while on the job. Different scenarios might include slipping and falling on slick surfaces or tripping over boxes on the floor. Workers may also be injured by falling objects.

After identifying the areas that cold be dangerous, employers should then implement safety measures designed to minimize the risks. It is common for employees to not take safety guidelines very seriously. Employers should encourage an environment that embraces safety. Employers might work to identify the most frequently ignored safety guidelines and then work with employees to encourage compliance. Employees should not be required to work in areas for which they do not have proper training or expertise. Workers who are overextended are more likely to be injured. Employers should instead learn to delegate tasks within teams more effectively.

If a workplace injury accident happens, the employee may be eligible to receive workers' compensation benefits regardless of who was at fault. Benefits can include the furnishing of medical care and treatment as well as a percentage of wages lost during the period when the injured victim was unable to work. Many injured workers obtain the assistance of an attorney when preparing and filing the required claim and supporting documents.
